Oh Firedrill!, we’ll miss you. Your riveting covers of delicious Eighties tunes brought me back in time to the explosion of college a cappella, but with over 20 years of arranging, production, and advancement of the art.  Keep us up to date on whatever you guys do next.

Don’t forget that if you are registered with twitter, you can follow me (http://www.twitter.com/acapodcast) and tweet the phrase “Firedrill! rocks!” to me to be entered into a drawing for one of two Firedrill! CDs.

I mentioned that Andrew Chaikin performs under the stage name of Kid Beyond.  Here’s a great wikipedia article detailing much of his amazing efforts.  In a secret special commonality, Andrew got his start with the Brown Jabberwocks!

Send me thoughts and suggestions for show #57, which will be a Michael Jackson tribute episode.

  1. Jeff,

You’re right, I did, didn’t I? I guess that’s what I get for being unfamiliar with the original and for being a little caught up in ideas for the Michael Jackson show coming up next. How embarrassing!

  2. Off the top of my head:
I’ll Be There – Ball in the House
Wanna Be Startin’ Something – Spiralmouth
    Thriller – Francois Macre

House Jacks ever cover any MJ? Austin’s voice seems like a perfect fit…

  3. Great song selection! My only complaint is that the show production is making the podcast very difficult to listen to, especially in the car where I do my listening nearly all of the time. The song levels are far too low and your vocal track is too hot and clipping badly. Some quick gain adjustment on the vocals, and a bit of compression and normalization on the podcast track as a whole should fix that up in a jiffy.

That being said, this is still one of the few a cappella shows being produced on a regular basis, so keep on up with it – the more the better! Thanks for all of your efforts Chad!

  4. Yes, I’m late to the game, but thank you for introducing me to Firedrill! I agree with you completely about their production values. It gives me a good standard to gauge my own work by. Thank you for all work on the show.
